YARN @ The Nursery 1st & 16th October, London

Just off the plane from Branchage – what an inspiring fest it is with so many interesting mash-ups happening all over the place – hard rock bands live soundtracking to crazy Japanese animations, Battleship Potemkin projected onto a tug-boat and a Victorian seaside takeover, very impressive…and we are very proud indeed that YARN was there with the Nutcracker. The local talent and visiting filmmakers put in an outstanding amount of energy to pull our Four Stories High together in under a month – thanks to one and all.

But always one for a challenge, out next YARN happening is only giving our new Four Stories High teams 15 days to pull something together – exciting! YARN has been invited by The Nursery Festival (www.thenurseryfestival.com) to put together some story happenings with an improv twist!
The Nursery is a festival of new, devised and improvised theatre in its second year. They operate in non-theatrical spaces, allowing theatre practitioners to showcase new work in a supportive environment.

YARN is delighted to have the opportunity to get into the improv spirit and present two shows across the festival:

1st October: Ready Steady Story

That’s right, Ready Steady Cook – but with stories. Working with the amazing Hoopla and incredible Scat Pack improv teams, one story per team will be devised live and pitched to the audience. The audience will vote (with their green peppers and red tomatoes) for their favourite story, which will then be performed by the magic al combo of the Scat Pack and Hoopla teams.

Meanwhile….the story that is performed will be filmed by the YARN team and divided into sections. Those sections will be given out to musicians, filmmakers, storytellers and theatre practitioners to work their magic.

16th October: Four Stories High

The sections of the improvised story from the 1st of October will be brought back together, slotted into story order and performed – for one night and one night only.

Please come down to support both YARN and The Nursery – you can purchase your tickets here: http://www.thenurseryfestival.com/schedule.html

Looking forward to seeing you there!
