Introducing Four Stories High

OK, so it would appear I’m a bad blogger. A whopping 20 days have gone past since the last blog and I do feel ashamed…However, I promise that it’s been time well spent.

We’ve been applying some serious elbow grease to get YARN’s showcase event, Four Stories High, underway. So what is it? Well, we’re taking Homer’s Odyssey, breaking it down into 12 sections, giving each of those sections out to 3 x filmmakers, 3 x theatre teams, 3 x storytellers and 3 x musicians and then bringing all of those sections back together on Tuesday 23rd of Feb and running them in story order to put the Odyssey back together again – exciting stuff!

So, Homer’s Odyssey has been successfully divided into 12 parts and our filmmakers, thespians, novelists and musicians are all beavering away producing their sections. Amongst those busy story-creating are award-winning filmmaker Harriet Fleuriot; Kitty, Velma and Bettina of The Strumpettes; and the ‘as heard on Radio 2 and 6 music’ Android Angel.

A massive thank you has to go out to Shooting People who have been hugely supportive of the Four Stories High project, as well as our YARN sponsor bookhugger.co.uk who have helped the name of YARN spread to places I hadn’t imagined of for the debut festival.

Make sure you’ve got Tuesday 23rd of Feb in your diary for heading down to The Queen of Hoxton to see it all come together!

As you can see, www.YARNfest.com is now fully up and running, so explore some more, reserve some tickets, and get on to the YARN newsletter for regular updates on the programme.

Quote of the blog: “Ten years have passed since the fall of Troy, and the Greek hero Odysseus still has not returned to his kingdom in Ithaca. A large and rowdy mob of suitors who have overrun Odysseus’s palace and pillaged his land continue to court his wife…..”
